1969 Corvette Convertible

Dad’s car – 1971-1976

At this time of my childhood (8-12 years old), on the weekends, Dad would take the family with him to Bridge Harbor near Surfside Texas where he restored a sail boat. My brother and I took turns riding in the corvette while the other rode with Mom in her car. Mom brought raw drumsticks and Jackie and I would crab all day long having a ball. Occasionally, I would somehow fall in the drink and dad would have to dive in and save me, him getting cut to shreads on barnacles getting out. I say this all to set the scene of what I remember most about that loud side piped beast. It was riding home, after a long great day, in the coolest car, with the coolest dad, and falling into a deep sleep, with the beautiful rumble as background music.
