1974 Chevrolet Corvette
Year was 1984
Holy Moley! I finally hit my all-time goal! Following in the footsteps of first my dad and then my cousin Bill, my first Corvette! The holy grail of cool cars! I bought it to sell knowing it was too expensive a car to consume as a driver, but also to have for my best summer ever! As always, I first gave it a big-time super-duper detailing inside and out and under the hood. I even went as far as redyeing the silver leather interior. Once it looked and drove like new, I kept it for the summer, cruising it nights and weekend while using the 210 to commute to work. Before I started the fall semester and put her up for sale, I took her on a 1,200-mile dream road trip to the beach at Galveston and the surrounding coast of Texas to visit family and friends. Thankfully, not one car issue the whole way. That done I put it up for sale, reluctantly, but it was the smart thing to do. It would be 20 years before I bought my second Corvette (the 2000) due to 1) to the high insurance cost in Houston and 2) getting married and having new priorities for a while.
